Returfing RRP Footholds.

I've returfed a few skis, so I have some experience. But now I need to returf some XFS RRP footholds and the angles and contours are going to be a challenge. I have no expectations of them turning out as well as the factory ones, but I think its worth a try.
Anyone have any experience with this? Tips? Photos?

I over do the padding and use a flap wheel on a diegrinder to contour the the desired shape.
Padding is difficult to get it to stay on some of the angles of the holds. I wrap tape over the padding to hold it tight against the holds till the glue dries.

No experience with the rrp foothold but did a set from tigercraft which are basically the same thing. I used 2 pieces of 9mm under padding to wrap around the bottom and 1 layer on top. Then used a cutoff wheel with a scotch Brite pad to shape it. Then used a strip of turf underneath through the center of the arch than put another layer of turf on top..

Those look pretty good! I hope mine turn out that nice.

Thankyou. It's not too difficult. Just take your time and measure twice cut once. You can use template fabric to make a template and transfer it to your turf. Cut a little big and start in the same spot for reference so you don't end up cutting too small..also have a heat gun around to heat the turf. This will it to stretch a little around corners. Start with the outer edge and work inwards and leave a little excess on the inside of the tray where the floor is. You can hide mistakes if you trimmed it too short with mat on the floor. Do the sides first then the floor. Also helps to have extra set of hands especially for the floor. With the floor start at the front and work to the back. I like to find a center point and work off that to keep everything consistent. With the undermat, sometimes it's better to use multiple layers of the thinner mat around curves and such because the 9mm bends much easier. Like on the holds themselves.

That is a great point, I was wondering how in the world I was gonna work with the thick padding.

One of the most challenging skis to turf is the superfreaks. I got to turf mine when I was building it. I used smooth on the sides to make it easier not having to try to keep the pattern straight and used molded diamond on the tray floor and under the foothold. That definitely made it easier as well. I made a build thread on that project with lots of pics on how I did the turf. You can use those ideas and apply them to your ski. That is what I did to come up with a plan to do mine. https://www.x-h2o.com/threads/super...on-make-superfreaks-great-again.206104/page-2

Yea I’m wanting to redo the turf on my ski I just picked up the other day. Tbh I wish it didn’t have the foot holes and maybe this winter I’ll get them taken out and have the holes refilled back to normal
