Custom/Hybrid Rickter edge starter

Hey so I'm going to be buying a rickter edge starter kit through blowsion but I don't necessarily want to tear down my suoerjet to build this thing does anyone know any good company that sells full kits electrical/engine/pump and the rest of the goodies or am I better off finding a older ski to steal parts from. Also is the edge a good ski for bigger riders I'm about 5'11" 215 the superjet is alright just seems like I'm a little limited to what I can do in terms of flatwater and surf. Trying to do more than a180 in the air on flatwater is like pulling teeth

I don't want to dig into my sj because I was planning on keeping it around for my gf to ride

Ski will be perfect for you. Best bet is to start scrounging for part. Buying a donor ski with some nice parts would be the best route. Buying everything piecemeal will be expensive.

Thank you I was kinda figuring that going into this also will the edge backflip still off a boat wake or surf with a 701 with maybe just a b pipe and prop I can get my bone stock sj almost half way around without foot holds lol

Backflip in surf definitely. Off a boat wake? Going to be up to you and how it is setup. Remove the rear sponsons. Add some power. Head and Pipe, Trim and perfect timing. It should providing the wave is the right size and shape.
Getting a ski half way around does not mean much. Its the last 180 degree's that is the problem. You run out of Height. Jeremy Parr could get his stock hull SJ with a ported 701 around to where the nose hit the water. But he was still landing upside down and not riding them out.

What about all blaster internals are they pretty close to the same. Waterbox gas tank motor pump electrical pipe hose routing. Because my dad has a running one he will sell me with a coffman pipe for 1100

Waterbox no, gas tank no, pump has a longer drive shaft, electrical box has all wrong wiring length, and Coffman pipe is wrong as well.

Your best to just invest in as many new parts as you can. It will only pay off in the long run, especially in a brand new hull. Jetmaniac will be able to get you a ton of good used and new parts including a great power plant.

I second the jetmaniac route. He is the man when it comes to ready to run engine packages and always has all the small bits to put a ski together and will have some used stuff as well to keep the cost down. I would look into his big bore motors, awesome for the price and he will be able to point you in the right direction for tuning tips as well. If you get a used ski you will end up discouraged as the wear parts such as electrical and starters and what not start to leave you stuck on the beach instead of riding

I agree with some of Cookn. There are certain parts that will fail. If you find a good donor ski with good hard parts. Then replace the Bendix and Starter with new. These are the items that go out the most. Battery Cables from OCD Solutions is a good idea of something else to invest in.

Be prepared for it to be very expensive if you're putting it together with all new/fresh parts. Highly recommend gutting the RN superjet, selling the hull, and with the proceeds buying your GF a 550sx with a reed motor (or something of similar value).

701 isn't enough power to flip a edge behind a boat. Now surf or massive yacht, sure, but still won't be easy. If your wanting to flip, I would get a xfs or simular.

K, then I would get a bigger engine then a 701. Atleast a ported big bore 771+. Depends on your budget. But if your getting the starter kit, all you need is driveline, engine, electronic, cables, pipe and tank. Could piece together new and use parts to save money, alot of good used motors for sale
