Rickter FS2 evo rear sponson talk

Who's running the rickter rear sponsons on there FS? Why or why not? What kind of riding do you do? I can imagine they put more pressure on the nose and keep the front chines hooked up better.

I'm mostly riding flatwater and chasing boat wakes trying to do spins or stabs. Pretty tame stuff.

Wondering if I should bother running them or if my ski would spin and come out of the water easier without them.

Let's hear it!

Thanks 20190805_085130.jpg

I have been playing with them on my edge. It definately handles better with them if you are running at speed (Chasing boats, surf riding), I took them off a few weeks ago and it lets the ski be more playful, you can still ride up the lake but just not as stable.

FWIW - I rode with the Sponsons on my Edge for the first month and took them off about a month ago.

For ripping the lake, fast turns and heavy chop the rear sponsons definitely hold the ski to the water better. When you take them off the feel of the ski loosens up and the ski seems to ride a little higher on the nose.

My experience when it comes to tricks the ski tends to do more of a corkscrew/tail whip when I hit my own setup wake for a BR. When you take the sponsons off the ski gets a higher and rolls flatter in the air. I prefer to ride the ski w/o the rear sponsons since it seems to roll better on Flatwater.

I run bolts and nuts thru rear sponson holes w/o the rear sponsons installed because it looks a little funny when water squirts out the siderails when the sponsons are not installed.

I was worried about the water squirting messing the turf up, Did the same thing, just put some locknuts on.

Right on thanks guys rode without them today and capped the holes off with matching hardware. didnt sink and hook as hard in the corners but definetly felt wayy better smashing setup wakes and hitting boat waves. I think they're staying off!
