Freestyle Rickter xfr backflip questions???????

ok realistically how much engine does a amateur need to do a flatwater backflip on a XFR? i know rick roy can do one on a stock powerplant. but can a average rider do one with say a 850 and a magnum pump?????

Anything with over 850cc in a short hull should be very easy to flip for a rookie, or else you're in the wrong sport.

ok that being said is a magnum pump required or would that be something i you could upgrade later. in other words would it still be just as easy to flip with a stock superjet pump and a 850

im running a stock pump and it feels way better then i expected it to. i will be running a mag type pump next year but for this year i am much happier then i thought i would be. just make sure you got the right impeller. i have only got 1 ride on my xfr before i landed on the tail in the river snapping off my steering nozzle but my new one will be here on friday and ill be sure to try a flip this weekend and let you know how i make out. lol (no more river riding)

I've flipped a BOB 865 w/ a Mag pump and a BOB 865 w/out a Mag pump. I couldn't make a fair comparison because the one without the mag had a different pipe and ignition.

ya i'd say 850 is enough power to flip a XFS nicely. Mag pumps do make a significant different on the effort used in the flip. The 950 Dasa is an incredible motor but with stock pump I could tell it didn't flip as easily as on with a mag, It gets the power to the water much better

I gotta say for flatwater it comes down to what you consider a backflip, yes a 850cc ski will backflip... But your not getting big height with the XFS /XFR with small motors & most guys just get the nose in with smaller motors. Still a flip, but to me a flip is plate to plate for flatwater.... You can get big height on the XFS but its no trim backflips which take some brap under the hood... Gotta remember the Rickters have a lot of weight to be flipping, I'm sure the Bob is a lot lighter and I know the freaks are...
