Custom/Hybrid Rickter XFS/XFR and Brap strap

Hello

got myself a XFS that i plan to use in light surf, now the last thing i want to do is drill holes in my nice new hull unless im 100% certain its needed and my question is, all you people running xfs or xfr in the surf what do you use to secure your hood? as the hood is lower profile i can see a massive benefit when it comes to side impacts dislodging the hood so is a standard/billet style catch any good for the surf or should i be installing a strap? also whats these hulls like for impacts? should i be adding some carbon kevlar to the sides to help?

thanks

Jim

My buddy rides his xfr in surf with stock hood latch and no straps without any issue. Many failed BF atempts, his xfr is bullet proof, I here xfs is plenty strong in smaller surf, no need to reinforce, thats my 2 cents.

I have a Rickter, which has that same hood. I haven't added anything yet. I've been thinking about it but I don't think I am going to. The only risk I can see is if your running a limit rope from your hood latch and it some how opens. Other than that... I think your fine, but at the end of the day... Its your call

good question. im debating it all too. I definatelly reinforced my nose on the xfs cause I know i will hit the bottom at least once.

My main riding partner Matt Smith just got an EVO and he isn't using any kind of hood strap. I seen matt crash several times with no problems. Matt goes pretty big too.

I'm running the same set up as most of the guys on here. Just an OEM hood latch w/o any other straps. I haven't had any problems. If you have the XFR, the ski is bullet proof. I've seen by buddy sand dart that thing 20 times w/o any damage. Good luck..

I run a tight pole, usually no limiting rope. 1eyedjim has an xfs now what rideplate would you use in the surf? Obviously you use short in the flat water
