Surfriding Ricterl is taking on water which is getting sucked up by the carbs, any ideas to fix?

I have a Rickter FS2 with Full Spectrum carbs and PROK Filters. The hull seems to be taking in water and when I do a nose stab or crash, the motor will run on one cylinder if Im lucky enough to keep it going. Then I will have to run the ski around for a couple minutes until I get my power back If I crash and the lanyard comes out then it will sometimes not start and Ill have to get towed back and will have to replace the plugs because the old ones will be soaked. Anyways I think water is getting sucked up by the carbs.
Anyone have a similar experience? Any ideas of what I can do to prevent this in terms of keeping water out of both the hull and the carbs? I even covered my duck bill up with duck tape and just the ran bilge but it still happens and its becoming a real problem.

thanks

I forgot!
You could put some Tupperware over the filters as splash guards to diagnose if the pro k is letting in that much water thru. How wet are they and how muck milky residue is in the carb throats? Could water be back flowing in the exhaust when crashing and tipped over? How much water is in the hull when you closed the duck bill drains?

fill up the inside of the hull partially with water from a hose and see if it leaks out through the midshaft seal.

Have you let the ski just float in water for 20 minutes and then open the hood? Can you lay it on it's side so hood seal is submerged before hood vents submerge with no water intake??

Did you change original hood seal yet?
No but after looking, it def needs to be changed. Should the Rickter hood and seal be totally water tight or are they known to let some water in?

There is a thin coating of milky residue. One swipe with a paper towel about.

i seen a midshaft come loose and do the same thing on a xfs... start checking where water could be coming from..
Never even thought of this.

Yes I will try this right now, thanks

I just filled it with 5 inches of water, its been sitting for five minutes and the only water coming out is through the duck bill. How long should i leave the water in there for?
Also does anyone offer an aftermarket set up for Full Spectrums that would go over the air filters just like the stock SJ has?

thanks

Install a oem SJ hood seal... That's a must, some Rickters came with junk seals.. also the hood latch should be tight (snap when you lock it down) if not cold fusion has billet hood side hooks that have some adjustment which helps pull the hood down nice and tight.... and install the thrust innovations adapters with oem Yamaha tops on the carbs..

Also check to make sure both breather tubes are installed and fit some what tight...

battled the same problem with my Rickter FS-1.

2 problems - one, the hood seal. just like oem, side landings / impacts of any kind, water makes its way through the seal. i used to bring a packing tape gun and clear packing tape to seal it up before riding lol.

second, the handlepole bracket area... if you do not install the bracket / tubes with silicone, water goes in there, and rushes to the back of the motor / into the carbs.

the solution (i know this is not a pic of my FS1, but I did the same thing on it and my Superfreak... Superfreak was more for piece of mind):
