You should try the search, this has been covered many times.
But it is a good idea for freestyle in my opinion. I have a d-cut rideplate on my 08 SJ, find it allows for the back of the ski to pop out of the water much easier.

Im thinking of doing this to my 03 as well. It gets the nose out of the water easier.
