Rip N Ride X - Last one??

I have been following the Rip N Ride event for the last few years or more and had hoped that one day I would be able to build up the finances and time to go see it if nothing else. But this year, the most recent video I have seen about it had Butch saying this will be his last Rip N Ride. Does anyone have any insight as to why? Does this also mean that with his last RnR event, it will also be THE last RnR??? I found it to be quite depressing when I saw that, Butch invested a lot of effort to bring attention to the sport out there in Ausieland. It will be a real downer to see him move on from it.

Well...it's good that the ride will go on, any idea why he is moving out of it though? I hope it's maybe that he would rather participate now instead of organize. Without the original man that put it all together it would be like when Chris Cornell from Sound Garden filled in for Zach de la Rocha on Rage Against The Machine. Anyone that knows what I am saying knows it just wasn't right lol.

Technically it is the end of an era , butch is the founder and a well respected free rider over here , soooo it is sad to see him give it up , I really do hope the event does live on though, he inspired free ride in Australia as we know it, a lot of the original riders knows this , I take my hat off to butch in a big way ,I remember years ago winning the butch award for for up and coming and most enthusiastic rider and he has been an inspiration ever since , mate you are a legend

I hope it does live on. I'm in Mauritus this year on holiday or i'd be there. My lost buddy is going over there to have the last of his ashes spread at the event as he was planning to go this year but sadly lost his life in a Motocross accident 2 months ago.
I'll be heading out there next year to visit family so i'll tie it in with the event if it goes ahead.

Sad to hear mate , hope everything goes well , he’s in good hands with the Aussies mate
