Riva red exhaust

I just picked up a raider and rebuilt the motor and put new lines on the exhaust. They seem to be all routed correctly but the only issue is that the hose from the stinger to the waterbox, the waterbox and the hose leaving the waterbox get extremely hot when riding. There is a barb fitting before the hose to the waterbox on the stinger and I tried blowing air through it and even poking a hanger through it but nothing comes out. I’m assuming this is blocked up and is why the rest is getting so hot. Anyone have ideas or advice???

On second thought for some reason it might be welded .still take off and have a look .if welded someone did that so the water box will have less restriction.it all depends on what you have and how hot the box can get

Yeah maybe it’s welded but I don’t see any weld marks on it. It’s just weird because there is a water line running to it so if it was welded I wouldn’t understand why there would still be a water fitting. And it gets so hot that I can’t touch the hose going to the water box. I was thinking of just trying to drilling a small hole so water can get in jurt not exactly sure if it’s suppose to be straight or if it’s more of a 90degree

I know it's a pain to remove the pipe but you probably should to check on the inside first for the original hole before drilling. It may just be that it had some carbon build up inside and a bit of debris from the lake behind that to clog it, or it may be that somebody installed a jet to dry out the flow to the waterbox. If there is a jet in there, the previous owner could easily have either filed down the head of an old main jet and force fit it inside the water fitting, or there may be a pilot jet in there. He could have had the hole welded up, re-drilled smaller and tapped for pilot jets allowing him to change them out adjusting the water flow according to his performance preference. If it has a jet in there, you can be sure that you will not be getting anything like a coat hanger to poke through. Sometimes drying out a pipe too much will still play havoc on hoses that far down the line.
