RN pole on a SN

The pole on my GF's SN is starting to crack pretty good where the bolt goes through the bottom. I want to get a RN pole for it. What all is needed for the swap? I know you need the RN pole bracket.

What you need is a "Hazard Bracket". It allows you to bolt an RN pole onto an SN, and also takes care of the front hood hooks. I'm not sure if Hazard is still making them, but the Rad Dudes sell a bracket that does the same thing.

You could use the stock SN bracket but it takes about 728 hours worth of grinding (with a dremel tool anyhow).

I am not kidding about being able to use the SN bracket. That's how I set up the RN pole on my kid's SN. Lots of grinding, and you'll need to add some spacers/washers on either side of the pole( I used some delrin ones), and you'll have to relocate the hood latches. It's not hard, just a bit time consuming, and if you had a real grinder it'd be easy. There is a thread on here somewhere with pictures and everything. I believe the author was sflsurfrider.

if you use the stock sn bracket and grind the bottom of the pole i can make custom sized delrin bushings to fill the gap

FWIW - I tried grinding a SN bracket to make it work and it was harder than I expected and I never finished.
I got a Hazzard bracket, which is a nice piece "but" be advised of the downsides of losing your kickstand and even more importantly for me you will have to set up and run a limiting rope.

I originally modified a SN bracket for my conversion. Down the road I bought a Hazard bracket. If I had to do it all over again I'd just get a hazard and be done...

I run a rn pole on my sn with a sn bracket. Flap wheel on grinder and you'll be set in about an hour if you know what your doing. I used stainless 7/8 hex nuts drilled out and machined down as my spacers. All in all about 4 hours of work

I drilled out the nut so the original pole bolt fits through. Then I took a flat end carbide burr and chucked it up in my drill press. Used it basically like a mill. Had to take a little off the nut so it wasn't a tight fit. As for the grinding, if you go this route, you'll see what you have to take off to get the pole to clear when it pivots. Only thing I lost was the pole upright latch. I use a bungee cord when I need it to stay up now.
