Rockered wave blaster vs. reaper

has anyone rode both a Rockered wave blaster and the new reaper. I rode the reaper at Daytona and I loved it. But I don't know if it is worth it to buy one or just rocker my blaster. Most likely going to do the carter b front and rear rocker. Any input on how these things ride. Thanks

Can you elaborate more on this?
I think what Zack is saying is they dont compare. A fixed steer is just that, a fixed steer Standup. Highly maneuverable. You can effect the way it rides and handles just with turning the bars, shifting weight. A Blaster is a different animal. It is like comparing a Dirtbike to a 4 wheeler. You just cannot maneuver a 4 wheeler like you can a bike.

I agree they are two different animals and do different things...no doubt...have had a fixed steer RN and now a rear rockered blaster and they can't compare.

I know the blaster has the "blaster Bob" issues in stock form that make recoveries more difficult as they just want to fall over...but my rear rockered blaster doesn't do that anymore, way more stable to recover now and can ride out of the same landings it previously would of just fallen over, also a lot more nimble and turns a lot quicker now.

Maybe the front rocker plays an effect but My experiences with the rear rockered blaster is nothing like what was suggested. So just curious as to what I am missing, and hear input from those who ride more and bigger surf/waves than me.

Just the carterb tail kits...not sure what proper name for them is.

Guess the op should clarify if he means just rockered front or rockered and shortened rear...when I think rockered I think both to be honest especially if comparing to a reaper.

If we're talking just front rocker than yes I would agree it would land like a stock blaster

Op already knows how the reaper rides. Now it sounds like he needs to ride a cut up blaster to solidify his thoughts on committing to a reaper.

Our local guy has a cut nose and rear and honestly I'm not sure what the benefit is. Does it flip easier? Yes. Does it slash without pearling, better than stock sure but it still pearls. But, I did everything he does on my stock blaster.....

Whenever he jumps though, he has a very hard time landing. The blaster is still so bouyant that the "blaster bob" effect is still there and now it's even harder to land when it bobs since it's shorter.

The blaster is a quad and a reaper is a dirtbike. Easiest comparison.

I have everything you are talking about. A Reaper and a chopped and rocked blaster. The Reaper is everything you wanted a blaster to be. Nimble, stable, smaller and few other perks. It is also far less bouyant. A nose stab almost turns in some kind of 360 with no effort. Backflips easy and everyone who has purchased one has improved out of sight. That said, visually, a blaster going big, flipping, carving is still very impressive. 701 just released surf fins and they along with the rear you have have, fixed the instability and bob far more than anything else I have experinced. the fins are crazy good and you will be surprised at the multiple benefits. The one thing reapers don't do too well is carve like a blaster. it tends to slide a bit more, bad? not really, depends what your into. Both awesome in their own right.

Ha Waterboy, 701IND is doing the carter mod Blaster build right now. We will along with the experience of my Pilots be looking at every aspect of how this mod blaster can be made to be a awesome freeride machine. Will be doing the build thread in the Blaster section so keep a eye out for that. For sure the Reaper is hands done a great Freeride ski, but im positive, the iconic Blaster with the right freeride mods can match it in every way.

You need to just build a new hull already!
Im just sticking to making the Blaster the best freeride machine it can be. As far as im aware 701 is the only company dedicated solely to this and im fortunate the have the best riders to help me. Rest assure, any part I sell has been through lots of R&D .
For sure skis built today are made smaller than the Blaster but the Blaster is still after 23 years the most iconic and sort after ski. The great part about a Blaster, is you can still buy them cheap, and then buy the 701 parts as you learn and as you can afford it. Eventually you will have a awesome freeride machine that you have built yourself.

I smashed mine at the buoy course and can lay a carve with my elbow in the water. Railing turns as fast as I can with Jeff Jacobs on my tail. It carves. And, it's slides. All about riding the line.

Can't agree there. Show me surfriding ona blaster that can match a reaper. I'm getting my reaper deeper and later in the pit than my standup! There no way a big ol blaster is going where the reaper is.

What about when you explode the hood?

Blasters are great but a reaper will beat a blaster all day long. Or, krash wouldn't have made one.
