RuleMate 500 won't fit?

Hi everyone!

Based on searching the forum it seems that everyone agrees the best location for the pump is next to the mid-shaft opposite the stock siphon. HOWEVER - all of the pictures and write ups are for the Rule pumps with a switch. There were a handful of people who recommended the rulemate instead (pictured below)...but I can't figure out how to make this fit. No matter how I maneuver it, it simply can't sit flat without touching the midshaft. Has anyone figured out how to get this thing in there? I know a few have installed the rule-mate, but haven't seen any pics as to where/how.

will it fit between the gas tank and engine?
Yes - It'll fit nicely there, but I wasn't sure if it "had" to be back by the midshaft. I ride in a brackish river, so mainly just need the pump to clear the water after I rinse the engine bay with fresh water at the end of the day. The stock siphon seems to do fine to drain any water that gets in there while I'm actually riding...so by the gas tank might be fine. Would still work as an emergency/backup should the siphon fail.

Just get the Rule 500 with a switch, especially if you're mostly using it to pump out the water from rinsing down after riding. Why would you need the automatic?
