It looks like we are going to sneak by without a permit again this year!!!! I just had a meeting with the head of Edgewater Park. We only have to pay an $8 dollar fee for a tent permit. WOOHOO!!! So this event will stay free. Here are some things you will need to know:
1) No GAS cans on the beach. The boat ramp is 1/4 mile away and gas will have to be kept there. (4 minute ride to gas up). I will keep a small stash of emergency gas in case somebody needs a quart to get back to the ramps and refill.
2) Must have Whistle, Lanyard (even if its not hooked up), registration, fire extinguisher, current #'s on your ski. If you don't have an extinguisher or lanyard, walk to the beach and borrow one! They will be checking riders at the boat ramps!
3) Stay away from the swimmers beach. (easy to spot)
4) No Wake when close to anchored boats! (they will call coast guard)
5) Keep an eye out for orange Coast Guard boats, if they come around, take a riding break until they leave. (Its just easier and they never hang around for more than 10 minutes.)....unless you want a safety inspection out in the middle of the water & maybe a ticket if your ripping too close to boats.
6) No soliciting on the beach because it's a State Park. (No NRG drink girls, No booths etc...) You can set those up at the after party. Freebies are okay, but only in our tent!
7) Bring a tow rope!!! Especially if there are waves. It gets gnarley out there on a wave day. Monkey will have his couch there as a tow truck for broken down skis and tools on the beach.
8) Please buy a couple tickets to the charity raffle. Sponsors are dropping out due to the economy, but this ride IS FOR CHARITY, and giving $10 or $20 to the raffle won't kill you. Plus, you may win something!!!
