saftey for 701 engine?

what kind of precautionary or safety can i do to/for my 701. just to avoid another blown motor? my rod broke and went through the side of my case so the whole motor is destroyed. thanks for any advice!

Leak test it after every rebuild, and in the off season.
Run the proper oil mix and octane level recommended by your builder.
Avoid long WOT runs (depending on your set up)

and NO water in the engine - if something goes on the side - it means it could not go anywhere else - due to water ingestion...

how often is a rebuild necessary. anything to tell before hand or should i run a compression check often? and how often? keep coming with the suggestions, i need em!

That depends on your riding and your level of comfort.

I've seen plenty of (stock) engines that haven't been rebuilt in 15-18 years and still go strong.

Stock is 150psi, assuming you're at sea level, and have a healthy battery and starter.

I fog my engines after every ride. Probably not always necessary but it helps me and my engines sleep better at night.
