Salt Water Riders, whats everyone using for ignition????

I ride only in salt water. I have an MSD Ignition set up on my stand up ski. Been having some problems with it. Im guessing its the salt water and was wondering what you other salt water riders are running and how its working out for you?

IMO, for saltwater use the ignition needs to be sealed in the stock ebox or a custom box similarly sealed from water intrusion.
So run anything you like as long as it fits that - I run the ATP Flame TL in saltwater without any problems. ATP Epic also fits, as does MSD Enhancer and Advent.

I love the MSD TL im running but was considering going back to stock because i don't think i could fit any type of waterproof box around the system components. The brain has about a half inch of space between it and the pipe once its installed. However there is zero space when sliding the brain into the ski, lol. Its a super tight fit.
Do you think running stock system would be a mistake?

Any system that doesn't take a chit on you in saltwater is better than one that does. You'll lose power, but at least you'd be riding instead of wrenching.

msd enhancer combined with a lightened flywheel can run pretty good...put your money into porting or other engine upgrades...imo

I run an Enhancer in my wifes ski and an EPIC in mine. Both have TBM flywheels, JSS stators and coils with no problems yet.

I agree with you. I should have mentioned what my my current motor set up is:
ada billet 920 89mm big bore top end,crank works 6mil 133 long rod crank, factory b pipe (mod chamber) duel digital total loss,duel 48 full spectrum carbs.
This is an awesome motor but the ignition needs to be more salt water friendly because its all I ride.

I would go with the FLAME then. Fully rogrammable and nice and safe tucked away inside your ebox.

the only thing yoiu can install and forget is an enhancer.....with any sort of TL you have to be very concious of ALLLL your electrical componets.....

no resistance or corrosioin anywhere....


and MSD TL can be setup for reliable salt use but has to be done right....

the FLAME is sealed but accoriding to reports can be touchy in regards to the rest of the electrical system...
