Heat? I've used it for cutting but never sanding....so heat it then sand? And Crammit what Grit you thinking? 220 seems to tear it and 400 doesn't seem to do ********.

Be gentle with the paper! I'd go with 220 and an easy hand. Use that to get 90% of the shape, then use 400 for the smooth, baby-a** feel!

What's the best for shaping hydro-turf padding? Having a problem getting it the shape I want without tearing it.

i use a scotch bright pad with a three inch grinder works perfect. you can get most scotch bright pads at hardware stores, i get mine from my snap on tool dealer. brown work best.(corse):fing02:

i've had harder time with the gray matting. i use black close cell foam. grings much better with out doing the mealting/ ripping thing

I'm thinking 40ish grit. It scuffs to whatever shape you want it. When you're done sanding, wave a heat gun over it and it will largely clean up all the fuzz from sanding.

thats what i do. it helps to have a small twist regulator, at the air inlet of the grinder, to govern speed.

...and plenty of beer:beerchug:

I actually use roloc pads on a die grinder for mine most of the time too. My projects always have redbull instead of beer though.

A little die grinder with 3" pad is what I used on most of it. I think that is what I am going to stick with it. I was just trying to clean up where the discs won't fit...be honest I am probably just being a little overly anal with it.
