So i still havent purchased an upper for my AR build. I was looking at the 10.5 inch and 12 inch barreled upper and was wondering what everyone's opinion is on performance..

Bump. Looking for input. And the longest range I would be shooting is roughly 200 yards.

I'm not a lot of help, but based on a little research, it looks like the 12 would be better. At the end of the day, you're trading velocity for compactness.
This was a helpful thread I found...

Military issue AR's are 14.5" (with a mid length gas system if I recall) if that tells you anything.

do you have a tax stamp for it yet? if not you can always build it into a pistol first using the sig brace.... I like the 10.5" barrels for an sbr, for my pistols i use 7.5" barrels... below is a 7.5" pistolsj7.jpg

Nice price! ... that quad rail looks heavy as fcuk tho.

I have a CMC trigger in mine. Flat trigger face, I think its a 4lb break. I like it for the money. The gissiele (sp) triggers look nice but thats stupid money.

Ya I was looking at the cmc gear. Looks really nice. I'm a huge fan of flat triggers.

If it is too heavy I can always upgrade it I wish they listed an overall weight so I could compare.

300 is great for supression, but as a std, it's expensive, and sometimes hard to tune in the gas system... any of mine that are not supressed i use 223 wylde barrels.... i do have 1 i'll be going back to 300 (i've built lots of 300s) but it will be a dedicated supressed pistol.

I've got a 7.5" sbr which is a blast to shoot but my 11.5" is way more accurate and controllable. 16 or 14.5 with a pinned flash hider is less headaches, money, and keeps the atf happy.

Never understood short barrels with 5.56", it losses so much. Change the caliber and its a different story.
way cheaper to shoot, still will do the job, and ammo is easy to find.... 300 is expensive and hard as heck to find i build all my sbr's into 556, but when I go supressed I plan to make a dedicated 300 so it will be a tune once and done kinda deal

Haven't been able to fully stretch her out yet so I can't weigh in on accuracy but I had to share my first stamp. Really happy with it so far; can't wait to see how it'll do with a can whenever I get around to that.

300 hard to find? poppycock.

I can walk into an Academy and get it sub or super.

or load it - much cheaper that way anyway.
