Scissor Stand Care

Just curious if anyone has tips for keeping the top rails of my aluminum scissor stand smooth and slippery to minimize wear to the bottom of my ski every time I take a break on shore. I've noticed it feels a bit rough and is leaving scrape marks on my hull. I'm thinking of rubbing the top rails down with a green scrubby pad to get them smooth again. Then maybe some car wax? Light film of grease or WD-40? Not sure if any of that'll help any.

I think most people cover them with turf.

Actually the aluminum doesn't scratch the bottom of the ski but it does leave aluminum marks that just wax off

Glue strips of Hydroturf on the rails. Keeps the ski from sliding off the stand as well.

I made a pvc stand. Works alot better but doesn't collapse. I'd cut pvc tube in half and attach it to the rais.
