Super Jet Setting time on a 650, Higher compression head, protec pipe.

I'm not sure how to set this up on an engine with some bolt on mods. Usually with stock I just line it up and have no issues.
I bought a 650 engine w/o a stator in it. So I'm about to put a stator in and was thinking with the Yamaha high compression head and maybe the pipe I should possibly advance my timing a little. Any tips of how many degrees to run? 170/170 compression, protec pipe, 650 engine.

if you are doing any long period WOT I would just line it up stock.

I believe counter clockwise is advancing the timing if you do choose to advance it.

this is good advice as the stock CDI does not retard timing later in the rpm range. Which makes for higher cylinder and exhaust gas temps, when timing is advanced, thus making detonation likely on pump gas. The little bit higher compression fuels the likeliness of this as well. After market cdi can retard some at higher rpm which allows you to advance timing at lower rpm and still keep safe combustion temps for pump gas.
