When I got engaged, I did an unofficial survey. I asked everyone if, in the modern day of women's equality, if I man proposes with a diamond engagement ring, should a woman not say yes with a Rolex?

All the men said yes, because they thought it was an even trade. All the women said no, because an engagement is special and their love is reciprocation enough.

Just thought it was interesting.

i upgraded my wifes ring this year. 11 years. i told her i want a new hull also. she said yes. but after a few months, she said now she needs a new car. if she wants one, she's on her own. theres nothing wrong with her jetta. sheesh. i just did the timing belt on it! my sj is sooooo heavy. i want a kdx, rok-r, superfreak or a ninja soooo bad.

I bought my wife's diamond loose wholesale and had it mounted, so it was a lot cheaper than a hull. A ring will vastly outlast a hull so its a good investment, although our society seems to have a problem making marriages last as long as hulls!

One of my best friend's proposed to his wife years ago with a huge ring. In return she bought him all the supplies needed so he could build an equally nice computer. (He is a software engineer by trade) I thought that was the coolest thing I had ever seen from a couple.

I bought my ex-wife a nice ring and had to sell my skis to pay for the wedding. Notice I said "ex-wife"...got the ring back in the divorce and pawned it and bought a replacement ski. Never again.

Just make sure when you write your long term matrimonial vows include these very important words to protect your future (you will thank me later),for instance (preacher to wife)do you take this man holy diver,in sickness or in health ,for better or worse,richer or poorer,for billet or cast ,carbon or glass ? (wife, doesn't know what hit her,a bit confused but can see the whole family and the ring .her reply) I do !
