I had an ebay auction go very well. Unfortunately the two guys who bid it up were from England and France. Anyone have any experience shipping overseas? Is there anything in need to know or stay away from? The French guys is asking for a bill so I figure he’s cool with paying extra shipping.

People may bash me for this, but I had good luck with the US Postal Service. I shipped to Belgium and Canada and it was very quick and easy(the process as well as the shipping was quick).

Just fill out the little green Customs Declaration form and the Postal folks at the counter will take care of the rest. Pretty cheap too.

typically usps is best for that, depending on the weight. small light items are good through usps.

make sure that the customer pays ALL shipping, duty, customs, export etc fees and make sure it clears before you send ANYTHING.

my only concern with usps is tracking. this guys is paying via paypal and I've heard that the sell can get screwed when using usps.

I always ship overseas. Those guys always pay more for parts! Send it via USPS Global Priority Mail. All you have to do is fill out a customs form. Make sure you get insurance so it covers the cost of the shipping and the item cost. That way if it gets lost the buyer will not be out any money or you will be. Mark the customs form as "gift" so they don't get hammered with import fees. the foriegn guys are always very happy since parts cost them an arm and a leg anyways. So make them pay via PayPal and add 2 or 3 bucks to cover the PayPal fees because they may be currency exchange fees too! I wouldn't worry too much on it. I have sent 10-30 packages over the last 10 years to Europe, Austrialia, ect...

Shipped my mazda parts to a bunch of guys over in European Theater. Norway, France, Germany no problems. Always used USPS for that. However i started using Fed-ex only for USA domestic shipments recently. If i did it again i would use FEd-ex to go global. For the extra fee i ALWAYS ship overseas. The people who don't must have some chip on their shoulder after a salty experience. How can anyone compete today without going global (sorry had to rant since i am an international business major).

USPS or Fed-EX
Always get payment cleared first. Never had a problem with over 20 overseas shipments in teh past 4 years.

Goodluck, making money for Daytona....:bananalama:

I live in New Zealand, and have just bought a SXI motor from XFT LOU and I know the shipping is going to run me at least $400 to get it here, people outside of the states 9/10 factor in the are going to get hit on the freight side and thats just the way it is.

Re shipping USPS is always the best price upto 70lbs.

Hi, I live in Belgium and I bought already a bunch of stuff in the States.
I already bought some stuff here on the board too. Even a switch from SXIPro.
I always ask for shipping with USPS because UPS and Fedex are very expensive.
Never had any issues, stuff arrives in 5-10 working days. Shipping as a gift saves us on shipping fees. I always pay with Paypal, fast and secure. Don't be afraid for overseas shipping. Thanks to everyone I've done business with.

I live overseas too. IMO, get the USPS quote and a trackable quote (fedex or similar, which will probably be outrageous), including insurance (if available). Contact the purchaser and give him the choice pointing out that the cheaper way is untrackable and at his own risk. Keep any receipts.

As a purchaser - for small inexpensive items I'd go USPS and take the risk.
If it's a complete ski - sea shipping in my experience is the most economical and trackable way and it's best to get a customs agent to handle it.

If I remember you can get flat rate overseas shipping with usps for $37.
To Canada for about $25 I think. Always go with usps. I once got a quote from UPS to ship something to the Netherlands, they said $150. Then got a quote with usps for $52. Usps always has a btter overseas rate.

I have shipped to Germany, France and the UK and had good luck with USPS. However like was already mentioned, you cant track it after it leaves CONUS.

Ok always use usps and insure it even for a small amount and that mean you get a tracking number
Please dont put it down as a gift as that means to custom guys that its not what its supposed to be and they will check it

And it doesnt matter if its a gift or not you still pay duty

Just write the price as less so they it goes under 500 and its all good

I brought a set of carbs from some one on here 2 mths ago and they put it as a gift and insured it for the price of a new set
its cost me another 200 and i still dont have the carbs
