Took some pics of my hull I shortened today, and figured I'd just post them since I'm proud of what I did lol.

It's shortened -7" from the bump guard, or -5" from the end of the part you plane on (someone please tell me what this is, the equivalent of a pontoon or what ever lol)

We'll see how it works out. I plan to make an extended and widened ride plate to mimic the part I cut off and stop pourpoising for long rides and cruising around that I will be able to quickly bolt on.

Damn, that's even farther than I cut mine and I was told i went too far, let's see how it works haha

My thoughts exactly lol. I was on the fence, and decided at midnight, screw it, I can just fiberglass the tail back on if I don't like it. Just gotta pull the trigger sometimes and hope for the best.

I literally couldn't shorten it anymore, I set it up so there is an inch gap from the rear pump bolt to the end of the hull now.

I would just go with it and see how you like it... IF you don't like it you can always pick up a spare hull to switch everything to.

That's what I was thinking. And like I said, I have the tail section still so can fiberglass that back on if need be.

wow that looks like alot. why not just leave the top deck and cut back the bottom deck? looks sweet though, you should cut the sides of the tray down, maybe like an sxr? give you elbow room. make sure you use epoxy:)

I don't think I can lower it, there's the top and bottom halves of the hull with like a 1mm gap where the tray is, so I couldn't lower it without lowering the pump. The one problem with this whole setup mounting the ski will be like having a giant tube riding under your nuts.

The nozzle looks super small in that picture for some reason, but you get the jist. Like I said, the tray extends an inch past the pump :naughty:

You should have cut the bottom of the ski away from the top, and then fiberglassed the chopped bottom into the origional top. Then you'd have less nozzle sticking out. You can shorten a bottom deck 7" and only shorten the top 3". As long as enough is gone so it doesn't drag on a flip attempt, you can leave the top there.

no, the sides of the tray, what you put the foot holds into, that part.

Yea, it'd be convenient, but as is, the foot holds I have are almost as tall as the rails and almost as wide. Those EME holds take a fair bit of room!

what he said.

still 2 thumbs up for taking a swing at it. hope its works like you want. gotta use those 650sx for something.

exactly lol. I have another 3.5 years of college, until then I gotta make this my freestyle stallion.

How big are you? I know a stock length 650sx, stripped down and with a 2lb waterbox was difficult for a 180lb rider to ride out of a tail stand. If its too short try adding a nozzle wedge from a 750sx before adding weight to the front.

I don't know if I'm following what your saying... I'm 6' and 135 pounds, it's a piece of cake to get out of a tail stand, just crouch a bit to shift the CG forward and the thing rides right out. By nozzle wedge, you mean angle the nozzle down to push the back end up? And I will be having a 5+ pound nitrous tank somewhere in the ski, if need be that can be shifted forward.

Though how would shortening the hull affect a tail stand or related trick?

With the back chopped your weight will be shifted back quite a bit. So with alot more weight hanging off the back its going to struggle to plane out and get the nose down. But for the most part shortning the back should help with freestyle.

You will have to see how it works for you. I know they can become difficult to plane for big riders . If you were over 200lbs the ski would likely be unrideable without some nose weight. A 750 nozzle wedge is 4 degrees.

I was thinking about chopping off a lot from my 650, but im about 195lbs. So i might chop a similar amount but move the engine forward a little, and definitely get a shorter pole/mount the current one farther forward. or ill just get a 300sx
