Super Jet Shortened Hull - Handling Effects

I'm right in the middle of reinforcing my '04 SJ, and will be cracking into the tray this weekend to refoam, add a drain valve, etc.

I've been debating very seriously shortening my hull 2.5" to 3.0" off the back, for the added "pop" it will supposedly bring.

My question is, what mal-effects will this have on handling? Turning? etc. I'm not terribly concerned about WOT effects, as I rarely haul across the lake full speed, but I do quite enjoy the occasional sharp carve to press some G's into a corner.

And can these effects be offset with a ride-plate change?

I had a 2001 SJ shortened 2 inches for a couple of years. It handled a lot faster and more agile. Downsides were sliding out sooner and sometimes riding nose high. The severity of that depends on rider weight and pole length. I barely noticed it and considered the changes to be all good.

OK cool, that's good to hear. I weigh-in featherweight at 155 pounds, so everything I can do to get the back of the ski lower helps me dig in better. Are you a <200 lb rider as well, Matt?

I did -2 1/4" wish i had cone 3. Best mod, no negatives in my opinion, other than the fact of all the money and time i spent doing it.

I made it flush to start was going to D cut but never bothered. Loved it. Honestly besides the money which was excessive to do mine with paint carbon RRP footholds etc, I really hope I enjoy my new EVO as well. It was the perfect ski as far as im concerned. It the one in my avitar
