Super Jet Should I sell the RN and go aftermarket Hull ??

We picked up a really nice rec race RN for a steal ( i could not resist ) and i am contemplating if I should go ahead and sell the RN and go aftermarket Hull or start building it up as Freestyle ski ??

I am looking to have an alround good rec flatwater freestyle ski that also will allow for multiple hood tricks not only backflips.

What are your opinions
A) Keeping RN and rebuilding as freestyle ski ??
B) Which aftermarket hull ? If the limit is arround +- 5K ( can TEM built carbon SJ ??)
C) And what do you think the RN would be worth if I sell it ?

The RN currently is equiped with

62T Cases 61x Cylinder Bore size unknown compression 170 PSI both, Stroke unknown
ADA old Style girlded head cc Domes
Injected B-Pipe, looks like MOD chamber
Riva Intake manifold & Spacer
Dual 44-46 Buckshots & Dual aftermarket Tau ceti carbon flame arrestors
Reeds unknown bet aftermarket
Dual Cooled
AC pole -2 + Aftermarket Spring
Protec UP Nozzle
UMI Steering & UMI Bars & UMI Throttle
Lifter wedge Turf & Side rails racing thingis
Carbon gas cap
Electrical so far unknown, Flywheel unknown
Rule 500 Bilge & Braket & Dash Switch
Custom paint with some chips and scratches nothing major

Thank you for your input

My personal opinion is keep the RN for a while and get an aftermarket hull when you "need" that extra bit. Just about anything you upgrade on the RN will swap over to an aftermarket hull anyway so you aren't really wasting money by keeping it.

Honestly, like Kev said, Most people dont need an AM hull, they want one. You are the only one who can answer that question.

Personally, I prefer OEM Hulls.

But I would loose the buckshots. They are great for race ski's, but not so great for freeride/freestyle.

Most people don't need jetskis....they want them.
The necessity of anything in this hobby, including the hobby itself, is questionable.

I just don't think any hull is gonna be better than the OEM setup right now, unless you want some hull to do 1ft backflips all day which is pretty dumb IMO... Plus for 4-10k you will never get that much fun value out of one if you are just a rec rider (non pro)

If money is not a consideration , after market is the only way without big HP for lake riding . It should be noted that money is always the consideration ; However , most of us should have thought about that a long time ago. No sense in being half pregnant my friend . Let's have this BABY !

weight. Strength and different handleing characteristics. Taking a 701 out of a 135lb waterlogged sj hull and putting it in a 75-80lb hull will make it feel like sooooooo much more power! Don't just get the most popular hull. Get the one that will suit your riding style/needs

If I would ride surf more than flat, I'd stick with an OEM RN hull like I have been for the past six seasons. But I do ride mostly flat and I get bored. Plus, I like a powerful setup. Not wanting to mod my motor setup at this time, the aftermarket hull is the only logical choice. I certainly don't need it, but I look forward to screwing around on it. I have maxed out what I can do on flat with my current hull and driveline.

I already have all components from my sn , I'm curious to why you went aftermarket hull ?

I had money set aside for an Xscream engine when i started reading about the Matrix hulls and thought i'd be further ahead with a better handling hull. I have way more time to wrench than ride so i end up doing mods and builds just to stay involved. I wish i had a more noble reason than "because i wanted too", but i dont.

That's my story. A consistent improvement no matter how small will keep me interested. The closer I get to the maximum potential of my hull/engine, the more expensive it gets to continuously upgrade, and the less interest I have in the sport.

I'm still not good enough for my current hull and current powerplant. My son is better on his lightly modded SN 650 than I am on my RN which has about 20X the $$ put into it. So, I'll stick with the RN until my skills justify changing to an AM hull. And considering I am closing in on 50, I don't see that happening.

For me, it was a weight issue. I loved the SXR handling (we have tons of choppy waves here), but hated the weight. Plus, my SXR was starting to disintigrate. The Trinity ES EVO was my answer. I didn't want to spend 10k for carbon fiber, but I still lost a ton of weight and gained strength. I LOVE riding this hull.

Korn, what is the weight of that EVO?
