Have 92 650 sn, havent ridden in 7 yrs. Dug it out of garage motor pulled Carb Kit and Midshaft seals on the way. It has a coffman pipe and ride plate and grate pluss prop... Ill add pics bc i dont know what i really have.

In my search of why it would take on water I found this site and been doing a ton of reading but having a hard time finding answers.

I have a bit if time before season begins.. I would like to upgrade it to a good freeride machine over the next year or so. This is one that would be putted around on but would also like to get into some freestyle for fun.
I would like to improve it before going back together if I ran into easy todos.

Questions:

Trim looks like fun.. I live on the lake and there are a ton of other model skis around cheap... Can trim be added from a previous year model or other model?

Is there another nozzle that came on another model that is preferred?

I see that many add glass to engin compartment How necessary is this? I have better than average glass skills not scared here but just wanted to know if its needed

Lowered Hoods? Why? also any needed mods to my stock hood for stabs and subs and rolls?

Quick steering? and straight handles, Any homemade remedies here on the steering? Do the straight handles help that much/ (im fat)

Water Box? is it necessary? can it be improved? or Subbed with another models?

Next year I plan to pull the tray during winter add foot holds etc.. What are the order of importance for these and or can i add to my shopping list? I searched the above topics but read very muddy answers? or if you know of a thread that maybe I didnt search for correctly please post a link

Ok I got the trim figured out I think..... finally figured out what the heck the cats threads were.... and today I scored a free trim system nozzles etc from another dead boat in town....

In my opinion you don't need to do crap to it besides make sure its it's in a reliable running condition. You are a fat guy on a lake...no offense is intended with that but you aren't going to break the machine's hull until you have developed a lot of skill timing the jumps off wakes and whatever waves you can get. At that point if you're trying flips and rolls and landing upside down and sideways a lot that's the point you need to consider the strength of the top deck. Lowered hoods are BS, I don't know what they do besides maybe make hood tricks easier? Strait bars make you lean forward more which keeps the pump hooked up which puts torque to the water. If anything do the hood mod so you don't take in gobs of water in to your intake.

Ok cool mthomps... ok I guess I need to find a thread on hood mods then.... when I rode regularly 15 yrs ago I could sub... timing wakes or waves is mastered... as for this lake we get huge waves... the lake is full of 50ft cruisers that get used every weekend... 30 ft fountain can feel like not enough boat often times in the busier areas but we also have a bunch of retreats for for calmer water

As far as getting the most out of your superjet make sure you can read the water fast and accurately and ride really hard. Use those glass skills and do the hood mod. I have 0 glass skills. I have been doing the hood mod for a year and a half.

After that there are simply 2 things to do. You buy a bigger engine and get an aftermarket hull I guess. But as far as superjets go, just make it so it wont break by trying things, because it has enough power to learn how to freeride the waterways.
