Hey guys, I'm fairly sure I know what the problem is, I just want some other ideas ready to go if my remedy doesn't work.
I was out riding surf yesterday, (salt) and after a good bail/crash/sub/stab my ski would instantly die a couple seconds after planing off. My hood seal is junk and I know a lot of water gets in. (Installing a new one shortly) The problem would continue for awhile until I got the water bilged out. Repeated cycles of starting it, and it dying immediately. Towards the end, the start switch stopped working all together and it would take 4 or 5 tries before I'd get the starter to react. This problem was intermittent before, but became really bad yesterday - so much that I had to get towed in. Once back to the ramp (and all the water had been bilged), it started right up and ran fine. I'm pretty confident that it's the start/stop switch. The s/s wires have been cut and crimped in two different spots already. The previous owner also stated he used to have problems with the switch. I'm planning on getting a whole new s/s switch and wiring. Anyone else think this could be something different?
Where is the best place to pick up a new assembly?
