Super Jet Ski starts up and goes right to the rev limiter? Wtf

Just finished putting my ski back together it's a 91 superjet with a 61x 701 stock carb. I just replaced the Cdi and coil with a Msd one. I finished installing it and then went to fire the ski and it starts up and goes right to the rev limiter and stays there ? I have no idea what's up with it. Any one have any ideas it wouldb be much appreciated.

Thanks

Nope lol. Tried to cheat it when I put the carb back on. I'll pull it back off and do so. Just wanted to make sure it was no part of the new ignition I put in.

Not an ignition problem. If you're not going to use new gaskets, at least put some sealant or grease on the old gaskets.

And if you find yourself in the situation that pushing the stop button/pulling the lanyard/pulling the plug wires will not stop the engine (it happens in these situations), just remember this:
Push and hold the stop button.
Pull the throttle wide open.

Seems counter-intuitive, but it works.

Ya I'm going to rtv my gaskets and I have a ton of air in my lines from not being fully primed. Thank you for clearing that up I was worried I crossed a wire somewhere.

Once you're sure your gaskets are good and it still does that, let it run for a few seconds to get air out of the fuel lines.
