Wasn't sure best place to post this-but wanted alot of coverage-so here it is.

Alabama Power all but drains this lake in the fall-as several of you saw last year. So-the question is---what month does everyone want the ride? Please vote. I recieved a permit application from the local marine police in which he actually tracked me down to give me!!!!!!!!! Whoa-what a change in attitude from last years planning. I have to put a date for ride on app and even more better news---the director of Parks and Rec in Cullman called and wants to do ANYTHING to help our ride/effort!!!

ALL THIS SAID-IT'S ONLY BECAUSE OF OUR GREAT ACTIONS LAST YEAR, THAT IT IS SOOOOO MUCH EASIER THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU to all of you that attended last year and showed the local authorities that we are a GREAT group of people!!! The local marine police do not harass jet skiers anymore, but bass fisherman instead! Yall just dont know how MAJOR that is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Soo-vote for a month, and then we will poll for a weekend in that month.

Lewis Smith Lake, Alabama
Lewis Smith Lake is an Alabama Power Co. Reservoir located in three counties Cullman, Walker and Winston. It was created by the construction of the Lewis Smith Dam in 1961 and is the largest earthen dam in the eastern United states. The Sipsey Fork of the Black Warrior River was damned to create more than 500 miles of shoreline on a three fingered lake with the Sipsey River making up the left fork, Rock Creek the middle fork and Ryan Creek the right fork.

Smith Lake consists of over 21,000 acres of lake but is very deep and may hold more water than any Alabama lake.

Part of Smith Lake is in Bankhead National forest and three National forest Recreation areas, Corinth, Clear Creek and Houston are located on the lake.

I personnaly would like to see this event go down in Sept, but it would need to be 1st half of Sept because by the 3rd weekend they start draing the lake quickly. (as some of you saw last year)

Would the weekend of Labor Day be a total disaster? I would think most of us would be off work the weekend of Labor Day. ????????????

What do you expect for and alien?:biggrin:

Jarrod and I rode at the Dam Sunday. Lots of Troll Runabouts. We almost made it to Duncan Bridge.

i love the water there , lisa and i were rocking :headbang: out with tool in memphis this weekend,goin to dauphin island for a ride next sunday
