Not trying to sound like an ass, but I would ditch the SN pole and convert to a RN pole. You won't ever have chinpad problems again... assuming you use a RN chinpad.

I busted a couple RN chinpads as well. Aftermarket is the only way to go and add a couple screws down through the pad into the pole and it will help alot.

I'm actually working on an alternative SN chinpad mount. It will repace the steering stop and be a vertial post that will allow you to mount the chin pad with a single bolt on top like a lot of aftermarket chin pads. I hope to have something next week. pm me your info and I'll email you some pics once it's done. I will hopefully test it later this month to see if my theoretical idea works in practicality.

That's what I'm talking about! Post pics here when you get it going.

Smoofers; I am sold on switching to a RN pole, it is just a matter of money. Used pole = $100+, conversion bracket $100+, new chin pad, incidentals etc. it adds up quick.

my old sn had some thin aluminum flashing from a window frame bent around the mounts and screwed into the plastic to reinforce it..held up for years like that

My quick turn required that I grind out so much of the chin pad mount that I had to make this bracket reinforcement out of a thin piece of Stainless. I first made a template out of cardboard, then I made the Stainless bracket and installed it. Lastly I ground out the plastic. Mine is bullet proof. I realize this isn’t off a Square but I’m sure you can rig up something similar
