Hi I have 1991 superjet sn that I’m going to do a crazy build with. The first question I have is I weight 125 lb geared up and wet and am 5’10 I was looking a taking off about 3in of that back because I just can’t push it around as good as I would like in the water like 180 nose stabs is 3in to much for me I don’t want to go to much more. Second I would like to reshape the front end I’ve seen people cutting big holes and then foaming and shaping then glass then go through the big holes to get the foam out I would like to cut the big hole to reduce weight but I’m not a pro at fiber glassing how many layers should I use to get the strength back but it also needs to be light as possible when I’m done I would like it to be lighter than it is now. I also have the trim set up from an x2 lying around how hard is it to mock that up to a super jet. Do u have to refoam the tray? If so what kind should I use can I use the stuff in the can our do I have to get the stuff that u mix up and where can I get it?

I suggest you read LOTs of threads on here before doing any cutting.
I'm pretty new to the sport also and 95% of my questions I've been able to answer using the search function.
There are dozens of threads on re-foaming, trim setups and custom hull mods. Do your research, get a solid build plan and don't cut until you know exactly what you want. My $.02

i like your $.02 i havent cut any thing yet i have two hulls one is rideable one is just hull im doing the mods on my spare but the hull mod for how much to cut is the big one for my weight just about every one ive read on it has about 60 70 lbs on me so thats the big one

You could do a carbon top deck conversion and save big weight. There is someone o nhere tha ttook a square hacked a bit off the back and put a superfreaktop deack on it. I cant remember the weight but it was light and it looked bad as hell!

Something to consider i guess.

is it the hull that's for sale on craigslist in gr? i would love to have another spare hull to get stupid with..working with carbon fiber like working with glass, cut your piece the size you want, wet it out, get all the air out of it with a roller, let it cure.

yeah there was to a nice blue one for 250 buck really nice looking should have got it but i didnt but theres another one on there a hull and hood for 150 no title that i want to look at and if that falls there i guess i will just use the hull that i have now but its nice so it would kill me to cut it up

Isnt the work you described alot of work as well!. Anything with the words large hole, fiberglass and foam is going to be a lot of work! Superfreak is pricey....but man they are nice!

u got me there i will considder it but the price is the big part. i have tons of glass around the house, so i really just need foam that i beleave is around 60 bucks. Im thinking of do the hole ping pong idea so if my glass is perfect i can get the water out with out water logging my foam but ive only seen one thread on that does any one know more about it pro and con?

Nobody has tested the bouyancy with ping pong balls. It sounds good and I'd like to try it myslf. I've foamed one ski and polystyrened another. I like the ppball idea. Freshwater I'd have no fear, but it seams as though its easy to sink a ski in the surf. give it a shot. As long as you have tray drains installed it will alwys be able to drain after a ride...no foam to soak up water. Throw a couple fast bilges in there and you'll be fine. I'd run atleast two 500's for safety.

right now im running to 500 but im thinking of putting a 800 in the nose i lock it up some times when im on the front but i was going to do the ping pong idea and then drill four hole in the tray and a few in the walls and pick up some of that foam in the can and put it in the holes so the ping pong balls cant shift bc it will never be a purfect fit you could all ways get a few more idk just and idea in my head
