Because the military base is federal land and a pain to get to past the river. Lifeguards dont patrol and pass along your CF numbers to the police when you head back to the harbor. i have heard stories back in the 90's during the week the marines would hide out in the bushes and when people came up to the beach to take a break, they would run down and confiscate the jetskis. riding in the surf is both legal and illegal, but you will only get a ticket for no fire extinguisher or registration[/QUOTE.
I have been riding Oside for many years and the marines couldn’t care less about you riding there UNLESS you are on the beach. Stay off the beach .I realize you can break down or sink and have to pull up on the beach to make emergency repairs but make sure it’s an emergency. I suggest you show up Saturday morning 7-8am maybe the Oside crew will be there especially if the waves are good ,they are friendly and should answer questions. Bring a tow rope ride with a buddy carrying spark plugs ,tools in case you end up on beach. A good reliable ski with a bilge pump is really important too and if the waves are huge might be better off not going out as ending up on the beach could get you in a jam.
