Skat can insert a 148mm wear ring inside an oem housing. Seen them before.
Don't think it would save money but it would be lighter than a solid SS housing if desired for FW use. I think Skat uses a 155 housing to make them but not sure.

They make the skat 148 wear ring by machining the 144 housing to match a 144 stator housing bored for a 148 mag stator your right. I believe once I saw a 148 made inside matching 155 housings with some type of filler to close the gap all the way around; that pump was for sale here.
Yup tried this a while ago. Too big with out the liner. Liner gets too thin when machined for the 148. I did make it work but I had to epoxy the liner to the housing then machine the liner on the lathe to 148mm. Epoxy helped the very thin liner hold its integrity long enough for a few rides, but time it took to do all this out weighed the cost of the very nice Solas ss wear ring.
