I installed my mag with oem 2008 prop in my XFS - I still get some cavitation to my surprise.

I am using a not so aggressive worx grate, no silicone between grate and ride plate - should I change the garte (e.g torrent from ATP) or silicone the space in between? Did you have a similar problem?

Thank you for help..that machine is freaking me out...

i dont reall have any experiance with mag pumps or anything of the sort but couldnt the fact that its a large hub pump with a regulerstandrd hub (i guess thas how you would word it) prop be causing your cavitation issue, mybe, possibly, idk

normally, yes, but the oem SJ prop aftrr 2008 is a big hub design so fits the pump like a glove... must be somethin else..grate or the void in between... need to test both I guess

Check that your pump seal and pump shoe are both in good condition. And cracks/ splits/ gaps will cause cavitation.

pump shoe is oem brand new and fits perfectly, the seal was not removed during mag install, must be the something else... probably something silly, as always... I think the prop is ok for the setup..no cavitation before I changed to mag...

You have an air leak in your pump seal at the top - sure of it..

My XFS with Mag and Skat 16/20 hooks perfectly and im running a DASA Stroker/PFP/TL etc so tons of power. When I built the boat a few weeks back I noticed the top of the pump seal needs some real pressure and a good smear of Silaflex on all surfaces to seal properly.

changed the intake grate to ATP torrent with adjustable wing. I did set it up quite agrresively and sealed with silicone all the gaps (inatke grate to pup shoe, pump shoe to plate... will test soon on the new grate and performance as such...

rode today...cavitation still here...I bought an oem pump seal, I will install it and compare, hopefully is the seal, and not badly pitched prop... btw my setup is 727cc limited motor (210 PSI, EPIC, BJ48mm carb, Bpipe Ltd bored out, some cylinder porting, mag 144, oem 2008 prop, and nozzle bored to 84mm) I should not get cavitation like that with that prop in this setup, right?

I installed the solas mag in my XFR about a month ago, no problem at all. I installed a new oem pump shoe with it and also ran a bead of silicone just in case. When you put it all together, shine a flashlight in the pump area to see if there's any light shinning through. And then adjust accordingly. Good luck..

If you want to leak check it just stand the jet-ski on its nose then duct tape over the pump intake area and fill the pump up with water. If you have a leak the water level will drop and it should be easy to spot. You can also use a bright flashlight and shine it inside the pump to spot larger leaks.

Well, I can clearly see clearance between prop and wear ring .. would that cause it to cavitate as bad as it does? Spins quite a bit, but not sure whether this is due to seal, wear ring or prop...

there is no leaks between the pump modules/elements..just worrying about clearance of wear ring to prop...When I put it together I made sure they fir perfect, so no leaks in between pump elements as far as I can observe... MAYBE its something else: I had a skat 12/17 swirl in my SJ. When swapped over to XFS the ski was cavitating real bad, went to the oem 2008 prop and was way better - maybe its the construction of hull, which requires pitching up or something...just random BS in my head...

ordered a new wsm wear ring will see how that goes. Moreover, I just lost compression on my front cyl - maybe a blow oring or maybe a tost motor..if so I am boring to last bore 84mm and just live my life LOL

so how do you like the mag in the XFR after switching from oem(?). What setup do you have? I mean I think I should get rocket launches, but I do not...

I was running an OEM pump w/TBM cone, it was a big improvement switching over to the Solas Mag, Now I'm able to do wind swell back flip, which I was not able before. I'm running a SS900cc X-scream power plant... Oh and my prop is a Impros Hooker 14/19.

is your midshaft siliconed in? It is very important that that is sealed well and that you either use the Cold-Fusion midshaft spacer with an OEM midshaft housing or using the Cold-Fusion midshaft that takes care of the lack of impression for the midshaft seal on most all AM hulls. If it is not sealed well you can get all of your symptoms. You also can damage your bulkhead if you dont have the proper spacing using the Cold-Fusion products.

You may have leaks somewhere as many others have already mentioned. I would replace that impeller with a new a/m one properly pitched for your exact setup. You have alot of money in your setup to be still running an oem prop IMO.

Tanman, thanks for info, I did seal it quite well I belive, but not using a spacer..it spaces out/seals the housing off the hull?? I do have CF's couplers, and got metal extenders from RRP with the hull (not installed).

Chris, you are probably right also, I will probably a need a new prop also, just want to fixt all the issues I've had (motor gone, and intermittent cavitation issues), other than that its great :) lol
