Solas mag pump on stock 701 sj

So I've read through a number of posts here and heard many different opinions but, was never able to pin down if someone had one on a stock 701. Does the pump upgrade really increase thrust that much on a stock boat? If anybody has ever run one on a very basic setup I would love to hear about it.

It's more of a handling upgrade than a power upgrade.

Unless you nail the right prop pitch/nozzle size etc down first try you might even make less thrust or have a flat power delivery feel.

Most people buy a Solas and hooker 9-15 and think it's great, where in fact it's just a little better feeling from whatever worn out junk they were running prior. It takes a while to really dial your pump in.

So realistically I should focus on more power mods before the pump efficiency becomes a factor. bpipe head etc?

If you have a 100% stock boat then invest in a pipe first. For me the addition of the pump was/is most noticed in staying hooked up in certain conditions. white wash, hard cornering and light chop . So think - surf riding (I don't do that but I assume) with waves crashing and water being aerated.... Racing your buddies and crossing through their jet-wash, etc.

I wouldn't say the pump makes the boat faster per se - but because it is more efficient in keeping your pump loaded, in some conditions you will be faster. Make sense?

glass water drag race - ski with pump and ski without pump - I'm not sure one would edge the other by anything major.

In fact my buds just raced like this - same skis - Bpipe & MSD - one with stock pump one with solas mag and 10/16 hooker and they were dead nuts even

I ran one in my ski with just a head and b-pipe. It was kind of a let down when I put it on. Was expecting substantial gain but only got barely noticeable. It did however seem to stay hook up constantly compared to stock.

You'll be wasting your money with a mag pump, you ride in Indiana at the white river and lake Monroe.

I still consider the boat stock but, yes the pipe is on but, I need to get orings for the head. long story short I'm just trying to figure out my mod plan for it. But fine, I'll get the enhancer next...

Hit up @JetManiac for the o ring kit, they're cheap from him. Get an MSD from him too.

Like it has been said above, most people have told me too that they wished they never got the mag pump and spent the money elsewhere.

Or send your stock CDI to @ocdsolutions for the rev limiter mod if you want to save some money. You should think about the lightened flywheel too.
