This time of year is always worse. Every mailing list that I have already "unsubscribed" from seems to refresh and start sending mailers again. Buy one cheap item off ebay and you get email for the next 3 years from them. Apparently "Unsubscribe" has an expiration date.
My email addy was used as the source by one of the spammers recently and so I have also been getting a few hundred "kick-back" emails a day from all the undeliverable addresses. That's been great! It's been a few weeks now and it's starting to die down finally. there's not much one can do about it other than set a rule to direct the emails to a junk folder and wait till they move on to new addy.

Thanks to everyone that is helping out by reporting spam. I've been making some more changes to help combat it but we're just getting bombarded.
This morning we had 5 new user signups that went straight to moderation for approval/rejection because the system picked up that they were likely spammers, but still had 4 or 5 others that got through and posted.

Anyone had problems with anyone interested with something you had for sale, you give them your email for pp and shortly after get an off the wall email bout insurance or such

Do you have a security question option for new people that sign up? Like "Who makes the Superjet?
Whatever you change it to, once they find the answer, it goes in a database and the question doesn't mean anything to the bots anymore because they know the answer. Even captcha doesn't mean anything with the systems they have in place that present that to a human to type in the answer and the bot finishes the rest.
StopForumSpam is integrated into Xenforo and I altered a few settings with that and it made an improvement in catching them/blocking before they even sign up.
