starter turns when i try to hook up battery

Getting close to finishing my 750 install. When i try to hook the battery up to the starter wires, the starter turns over like i am hitting the starter button. I am not sure if the starter is bad, or i have spliced the 750 electrical box in wrong. I think the engine came from 750 dual carbed sit down ski. There are more wires than the 650x2 box. Any ideas or thoughts? Thx, Dan

Sounds like you have the starter solenoid reversed.
Are you using the 750 electrics, and e-box?

it sounds like it's wired wrong or the switch is bad. Try another switch (solenoid)
