SX/SXi/SXi Pro starting gears chewed

Hey guys was wondering if anyone else has seen this happen? the starter gear and the bendix gear are both shredded to almost nothing on and the flywheel ring gear teeth are pretty bad, but the gear that engages into the flywheel is fine. this is the flywheel that i found on it.photo.jpgphoto.jpgphoto.jpg

To me it looks like a YAMAHA (total loss LW flywheel), am i correct? is this why the gear are screwed?

comments, any help at all.
Thanks

Two strokes always stop in one of two spots so the bendix always engages in the same area (one of two areas). those spots will wear out faster than the rest of the flywheel. Jetinectics replaced my starter gear on my LW flywheel for 100 bucks. mine looked the same when I bought it used. They told me it was common.

ya i noticed that on the flywheel but on the bendix and the starter gear they are both F'd all the way around, im thinking someone might have installed the bendix wrong but im not sure how that can be done??

I dont know for sure, Id call msd and ask. chances are they are the same. they need to be heated and the FW needs to be frozen with dry ice and they slip on. FYI there is a lip holding it on so dont try to press your old one off, they need to be cut off.

sorry guys for being a meat head, got the motor out of the ski and start taking the starter off and one of the bolts was on the bottom of the ski and the rest were barely even in there... worse then finger tight lol

So that solves my wonder about how the starter and the bendix and the flywheel got F'd right up. some nimrod without a torque wrench and or threadlocker put the starter on! FML!

thanks for the help and still on the hunt for a ring gear so i dont have to drop 600$ on a new flywheel, fingers crossed!
