Super Jet Stator Charging and Grounding questions

My ground wire from my ebox to stator broke inside the casing, giving me a no-crank situation. I went ahead and grounded my ebox to the engine block (to the ground post of the starter motor on the same bolt as the ground for my battery). I could hold the start button down and nothing would happen until I touched the ground wire to the block.

Last time I went riding, I 100% drained my battery and had to get towed. My battery is not charging, why is this? Is a ground not a ground? The stator is grounded to the motor and the ebox is also grounded, so why is my battery not charging? I need to double check my ebox and all electrical connections, but I can just not understand why my 'fix' isn't working. ( I even did a pretty legitimate job, ran a ground wire through the unused temp sensor grommet and everything.)

TL;DR - grounded my ebox to motor, battery isn't charging.

Any electrical gurus care to chime in?

If your ground wire was broken in the stator harness, then maybe one or both of the green batt. charging wires from the stator are broken as well?

Disconnect and check the resistance between the 2 green wires at the ebox.
