steering cable/handle pole

a pretty dumb question but i have to ask whats the easiest way to get the steering cable out of the hull. i got the big plastic cap off and when i tried to spin the other it spun the entire tube and cable. It is kinda late and didnt feel like messin something up foolin around with it, its my first complete tear down so im still learning. Also whats the easiest way to get the handle pole off? do you have to releive the spring pressure or just take the long bolt out and pull it out?

After you remove the plastic nut, you need to remove a small plastic clip from the cable.
Then you remove the barrel on the end of the cable and pull the cable through the tube.

To remove the pole, remove the pole bolt and make sure all the cables are clear.
