FX-1 steering problems please help

i am putting this ski together from parts,some of the parts dont like eachother.could someone please help me by verifying the dimensions in the pics so i can try and figure out what parts i have here.

in the steering cable pic the cable is pushed all the way in

Dumb question, but are you sure the cable isn't in backwards? That's about the distance a stock FX cable has at the pump end.

Shouldn't the groove in that steering cable that holds the cable from moving in and out be held somewhere by something? It looks like you need to push the cable about two inches into the pole, down into the hull...... and lock the cable down at the area where it exits the top of the pole.

yeah guys that is waht he is showing you. the cable holder slot is 6 plus and its less than six from pivot to holder.

butti you need a diff cable. or make a holder like u shaped to hold the cable and recess it in and then bolt it to the pole. ya dig?:beerchug:

okay a little more insight for you.the cable is supposed to sj. the pole is supposed to be fx-1. if i had 8 inches id be all set! instead i have about 6 1/4.i tried the fx cable too with no luck. it needs about 7 1/4 to work. i got this pole from idok which he got with a parts ski so its origins are kinda unknown.what kind of funky pole do i have here? we thought it was from an fx.

quite sure,the pump end is much longer

i just tried the fx cable again,no luck.it seems about an inch too long.this is as far as it will steer left

Your Steering plate and pole measurement seems to be right. I have FX-1 with AC FX-1 pole. When centered its about 6 inches.

When pushed in the measurement from mount to pivot is 5 1/4 about an Inch and a 1/4 shorter than your cable.

When extended it is at 7 3/4.
