For what it's worth, I really like my CF turnplate on my SJ based, boat chasing hull. Good all round steering IMO with no bearing togo bad, just a bushing.I've got a cold fusion turn plate I don't need. Not OVP but much shorter that the stock turn plate and uses oem bushings. $100 shipped
Im pretty much just a play rider. Jump some wakes and just play ride. Maybe go around the course a few times.I guess it depends on what exactly you're looking to get out of the upgrade. I really like the responsiveness of the OVP steering system on my 2017 superjet. After switching to OVP and 0° flat bars I'll probably never use anything else.
Just plate, no clamps?Yes used. Not sure how old View attachment 454662
Imo the CF steering would do you really good.Im pretty much just a play rider. Jump some wakes and just play ride. Maybe go around the course a few times.
Thanks, I will look into it.Imo the CF steering would do you really good.
Preferred brand?OVP for the win! Moves you forward just enough and tightens up the steering response. On my SN all I had to do was peal off some staples and cut enough of the hard plastic n restaple and cut the excess vinyl to clear the bars in full right lock.
The stock clamps will transfer over or there are billet options available. I'll look and see if I have any laying around. I personally would not run OVP in your situation for a couple reasons. First, you're going to have to modify the chinpad sides so the bars don't hit and the chinpad will need to be raised. Also it will be a completely different feel compared to what your used to. Some people (including myself) like the "swing" in these types of turnplates. It will feel very much like what you're already used to but a shorter version.Just plate, no clamps?
I'm pretty much a play rider too. No courses where I'm at. Jumping boat wakes, spins, slides, etc... But like yamahaulass said, it really comes down to personal preference and what you like the feel of. I prefer the tight responsive feel of the OVP vs. the swing feel of the turn plate. I swapped to the short turn plate and 0° bars on one of my JS hulls and like it way better than the longer stock plate. The feel of the shorter swing is definitely an improvement over the long plate. But I still prefer the OVP that I have on my other 2 skis.Im pretty much just a play rider. Jump some wakes and just play ride. Maybe go around the course a few times.
So I'm used to poopty stock steering. LOLThe stock clamps will transfer over or there are billet options available. I'll look and see if I have any laying around. If you do end up going with an OVP setup, ride it for a bit before you shorten the handle poleSo I'm used to poopty stock steering. LOL
It's not responsive enough.
I do plan on shortening the ha dle pole as well so moving the bars as far back as the OVP would isn't a huge deal.
