Stock cdi vs msd

Got a few bucks left from my tax return so looking to buy something for the ski . Is a msd enhancer worth the money. Does it really make that much of a difference over stock ?

I had a msd enhancer on my auperjet that my buddy have me used for free. It worked good on his boat and it worked good on mine.

My boat started backfiring occasionally. Then one day it wouldn't turn over. I put the stock cdi back in it and it runs great: plenty of power, no backfire.

Back to back, I couldn't tell a difference. I wouldn't buy another one unless I had money to burn.

I put a question out similar to this as I ended up with a MSD and an ATP HX3 EPIC and overwhelming opinion was the ATP. Haven't had the ski in the water yet so I cant comment on the performance. The main factors were the program-ability and dual modes. ATP is a little more expensive.

Therefor I have a MSD I need to sell.

I've had msd on my superjet and realy didn't see much difference but I will tell u when we built my wifes eme aerial8 we tried with a stock one and had rev limiter anytime u grabbed the gas more then a 1/4 throttle everybody thought it was impeller pitch but decided to swap to the msd enhancer we had sitting...and (bam) then the ski ripped... so the adjustable limiter is sometimes useful. And I'm sure the timing curve is better I'm sure like most things depends on what ski with what mods to see a big difference.

Rev limits kill riding IMO. You need the extra RPM's to spin a low end prop hard up the face/off the lip of a wave.... my prop would be useless in surf without the MSD's curve, extra R's, and heck the extra spark I suppose. (I have done back to back in dark and MSD fires hard!)

I imagine EPIC is better if you need your own curves....I would like to try one for sure...

I have not and will never try total loss I imagine.

I watched a guy in our crew install an msd on the beach at Daytona then head right back out and ride.

He was very impressed on a back to back test like that.

Them I've heard guys say they don't notice the difference but installed over the winter.

I still swear by them and won't ride a ski without one.

I don't think they are worth the price tag new. But at $100-150 used they are a great value.

I have a 62t /61x motor dual 38's a ada head 182psi per hole b pipe billet couplers lightened flywheel and a hooker 9/15 prop. Anyone think that I should notice a difference ?

It depends how you ride....

Ride mainly surf and does a tbm pump cone really make a difference also ?
