Stock SJ Sponsons?

I have a 2000 SJ I bought over the summer and rode the hell out of it, now its gettin cold and I have some work to do. WhenI bought it the guy showed me on the sides he put sponsons on it. He said they are molded into the new hull but he bought these and installed them. My problem with it is that he used big nasty screws into the hull that need to be cut off. Im not sure how he sealed it but it has cracked all the way around the sponson. For paint he used spray paint and it looks horrible to me. What can I do here? I was thinking remove the sponson and reinstall with the caulk blowsion sells for there tubbies and used bolts. Then should I use epoxy and some glass to go around the edge? Just looking for some tips cuz I need to do something with it...

I put my blowsion 2001 sponsons on with silicone and pop rivets. Used 5200 to seal the pop rivets.

They don't look as flush as the ones that are glassed on but it's alot less work and my hull's black anyway so you really don't notice it.

I'm thinking about getting some tubbies this winter and those will be glassed on.
