Hello all, I have a 96 superjet all stock with stock bilge and a rule 500 electric bilge, took it out recently and it kept having to drain water every 15 seconds for a few seconds then stop and keep doing that over and over, so today I took it to the boat ramp to see what it was and I ran it in the water while on the trailer to find that it was the stock bilge letting the water in, this ski didn’t have the stock bilge when I bought it so I added it back in, I did everything, it is connected to the proper fitting on the pump nozzle, the one that stock out into the middle so water goes by and then creates vacuum to suck it out I added the little 90 deg fitting that has the small pinhole for air when floating and it has the loop to the top of the engine bay but instead when I ran it I saw it bubbling from the bilge box and the water level rising so I disconnected the line that does the loop up to the 90 deg fitting to see that the line was slowly pushing water INTO the engine compartment and when I gave it more gas it pushed even more water, anyone know why this would be? It’s definitely hooked up properly but somehow is pushing water back into the engine bay, so I put my thumb over the line to stop the water flow and it did then I throttle it a little and it stayed at bay and wasn’t flowing out and water level was not rising in the engine bay after that, so it is definitely the bilge but what would cause this? Right now I’m thinking I’m just going to delete the stock bilge as my best answer given that I have the electric one running while I ride anyway, but just looking for an answer and what you guys think my best solution is... thanks all!

I had a similar issue and the cause was I had shortened the siphon tube in the reduction nozzel. Now I know you've said yours is all stock, you might look closely at your siphon tube in your reduction nozzel for any defects/holes or changes at its base or tip
Only other thing Mine did and it happened to be a 96 as well. I added back in the stock OE system, at first it wouldn't siphon, turned out the thru hull tube had rotted pin holes on the engine bay.. good luck

Yes the bilge is 100% connected to the proper spot on the pump reduction nozzle, and my reduction nozzle fitting does not appear to be tampered with or touched, and I just did a defoam and refoam recently checked all my thru hull hoses and they looked good. Can’t think of what else it might be. Probably just going to disconnect the stock bilge and leave it that way so it doesn’t happen any more. It clearly isn’t helping me right now and I don’t think it will do as much as I’m hoping it will if it did work

Is the hose from the strainer laying down or is it up above the water line? Does the plastic Elbow have a crack in it?

All above is great Info thankyou guys for the good responses, but as shown I have it plumbed as it should be, the hose loops up to the top of the engine bay and is connected to the plastic 90* fitting which is not cracked or clogged and some how is still pushing water into the engine bay, it is indeed connected to the proper fitting as I just confirmed it with ur picture comparing it to my pump reduction nozzle so I’m not sure what could be causing it but I think I’m going to end up deleting the factory bilge since I have the electric rule 500 in there as well. Thankyou to all for all the help I just don’t think it’s worth any more troubleshooting for the stock bilge after I’ve checked, double checked and triple checked the routing and set up of it and am still getting improper function again thanks all for all the great info and help!

flip your plastic vent around. If your loop is coming up to under the hood lip. There is not enough hydrostatic pressure to force the water up and then back down.. especially if the vent is good.
