stock sxr backflip

Has anyone backfipped a Stock SXR? Thinking of trying one in some 4-5 foot steep surf. Planning on D cutting the ride plate, and already have holds, hood strap and a limiter rope.

Do you think I have a chance at making it?

pin it to win it I almost backflipped my stock superjet last year but I have this funny little curse of my rotation stopping mid flip in variable points of the rotation. but just hit it later than you think is what I have been told. Go for it, when surf gets bigger bring it to oceanside and get john 227 to follow you with his helmet cam when you do it. You will prove a good point as far as technique before modifications for everyone who doesnt think they can go gnarly without spending a butt load of cash.

Thanks for the encouragement Mark, .... I think it is time to break out the helmet and pin it.
Hopefully I can convince my pops to take me down there sometime in the next few weeks. It sucks being only 15 and not being able to drive!!!!

Since you're 15, a talk to your parents would probably be the right thing to do. I would guess they purchased the sxr for you to enjoy, not to destroy.

There is plenty of time to learn more about flips, rolls, etc. My advice is to concentrate on your surf riding.

I actually paid for half of the sxr, and do you really think the handlepole will break with a limiter rope?

I tried twice a few weeks ago. Landed upside down both times but nothing happened to me or the ski. You have nothing really to worry about unless you let go. It feels really good to get the first time attempts out of the way. good luck man.

Mine held up for a little while, but a limiting rope on a stock pole just buys you time....... even with just hard rec. riding.

Good Luck!

Not to get off topic, But where in oceanside do you guys ride? I too would need to ask my dad to take me out, because i'm only 13. Haha. He would be just as stoked as me to go. :Banane09:

I have bent a couple of eye bolts open that my limiter rope attaches to and my stock pole is still rockin. My pole would be garbage if it wasn't for that
