You start with a few bunny hops to get the nose in the air. Push your feet outwards to grip the tray. When you feel good about your bunny hop height you push the pole and pull your feet up. :)

This is me on a no footholds 550 on flat water. Ride plate and head only. Style points are awarded for riding it out. And not crashing into the bottom. Be careful I have hit the bottom hard enough to get the ski stuck and I came up before it did.

oh yeah, full throttle when you hit the water. You have to power the boat under it aint gonna go on momentum.

Rear of the engine compartment near the driveshaft- that's where the water is going to move to when you're riding, so that location will be able to remove the most water possible.

What @speedysprocket said. That way you can get nearly all of the water out in a few seconds. While you mock those who can submarine!! Oh wait ... So just that first part.

I also have a manual switch on my bars. The auto switches that work in the bouncy often weightless environment are pricey and the ones with float paddles are just bouncing around wasting battery. I also put the bilge outlet where I can see it while riding. When the water stops I can turn off the switch. You will know when your boat has a lot water in it. It will get 'floppy' I guess any way it will want to go side to side in a floppy or sloshy fashion.

There's another automatic bilge option- the pump will cycle on periodically. And if it senses the extra current draw required to pump the water out, it keeps running till the current drops again, meaning the water is all gone, then it goes back to its periodic cycling to pump the next accumulation of water out...

This is the part that I kept forgetting to do when I was first learning. if you aren't getting the nose down it is most likely because you aren't lifting the back end of the ski up with your feet. when your feet are pinned to the walls of the tray it doesn't really take much force to lift the back end.

Here is some footage I didnt know that i had. This footage has a couple subs with no foot holds back when i used to race. This is on my 94' Team Butch Kaw 750sx LTD.

Just a little pre-hop and push the nose down at the right angle is the trick. When you master that you can then learn to do them with out the pre-hop at will.
