suggestions for a noob

ok im a total noob to jet skis but have been a boater/skiier/wakeboarder all my life and its time for a new water hobby. i am pretty motor savvy. so anyways what would any of you suggest as a first ski? i see these superjets and sxr's and they are pretty damn expensive (on craigslist at least) although i did find some good deals on older skis around 84-88 most with low hours and original owners and prices averaging $600 or so. would any of these (links below \/\/\/\/ ) be good beginner skis for me?

I'd say hold out for at least a cheap used SJ or a kawasaki 750. Don't be afraid to drive a couple hours to get a ski.

Two of the listings are for the exact same ski. If you just want to play around, and don't want to go fast or get into freestyle tricks the 550 can be fun. If you see the freestyle tricks on this site, and have ambition to do them yourself save your money. Buy a 1990 or newer superjet. SJ's work well for many riding styles, and there are countless modifications that can be done to them.

thanks for the opinions guys. im semi interested in freestyle but im not going to get that into it because, like i said, im on a budget. i figure ill buy one of these 550's right now and then if i decide i want to get more into it then i can start looking for another ski but i think for now ill just be cruising and occasionally jumpin some wakes or something. plus im going to college in about 2 years and im not sure what ill do with all my toys then. any more opinions appreciated thanks

i also added the 3rd ski link...it just posted a while ago

When i got into skis i decided to listen to my mom and buy a starter ski. I bought a 88 550 for $800 (to much) That was last season and this season i stepped up for a fx1. Best decision ever. Just save your money and skip the older kawis. I loved riding my 550 till i started up my fx1 for the first time. Everything about it is so much better and it was only $700 more. My 550 just sits there now hoping one day to be ridden by a friend or something

ha ha dude it never works like that, were all "ON A BUDGET" and we always find ways to mod our skis further. You only live once, live life to the fullest with no regrets!

You can find an SJ easy for a $1000! My last 2 superjets were under $1000 and were modded.. Just take your time and look. If you wait til winter you'll be able to score a Killer deal

Call and offer that guy in san diego (Escondido) Like 750 for the ski he has been trying to sell it for a while, use the extra money for registration and a life jacket or what ever you might need to get started out.
