Freestyle Sunoco 110 or VP 110?

NVJAY775

My home away from home.
I was picking up some fuel the other day and the guy asked me if a wanted Sunoco, or VP. I asked what the difference was and the guy behind the counter said the racers prefer the Sunoco because it wasn't paraffin based and had lead in it. It also doesn't scale up in the complete fuel system, so he was told. And as a bonus it's a few bucks less. Like 10 bucks less for a 5 gal can. The racers that told him this have been wrenching on pros bikes for years.

Anybody here have any input on this?

get the :):):):) with the highest lead content you can get. lead in gas acts as a cushion between parts slamming together. lead in auto gas was to keep the valves from beating the seats to pieces. lead is a great lubricant. i like AV gas myself.

Check out the spec sheet on VP CHP. It is 15% oxygenated and is LEADED. It IS Hp in a can. Keep in mind-oxy fuel is a little tricky getting your carbs set up the 1st time. Once your carbs are dialed in-then they are set for good.

I was using the VP C12 from the motor cycle shop, I think it was actually 108 octain, seemed expensive. I now run ERC 110 octain, I have them fill my cans so I save money not needing a container. It's $9.75 a gallon out the door. Find the distributor and have your own cans filled, Sunoco or ERC. On the unleaded 100 octain question, my compression pressure and how i ride is determining my engines octain requirments. if your engine only requires 100 octain fuel then that would be fine. I would suggest checking with your engine builder as well

I am paying 508.00 total per drum for the CHP buying it buy the 54 gallon drum at a time. There is a HUGE price break when you buy 54 at a time.

You guys are silly. Move to a place where the waves are bigger than 1 ft boat ripples and you don't have to worry about any of that race fuel nonsense!!

And I'm not posting in the flatwater section so all you backie chan riders can suck a big one. Show me a good flatwater vid I will applaud it. This convo is bogus. I have ran 650's with tons of timing on 93 octane without a hitch. Who's worried about anything else?

When you ride junk, it don't matter if you trash engines.............

@Gil, that's $9.40 a gallon that is cheaper. Ill have to see if they ERC offers more discount on a larger purchase. I buy 25 gallons each time already so it's worth checking. That CHP your buying what Octain is it?

I see the CHP is made by VP and is a 101 motor octane fuel oxygenated like you said, the ERC 110k is a 105.2 motor octane fuel none oxygenated, so it's the octane difference that's creating some of the cost differance id say. Volume helps too looks like as we'll. ill have to take another compression reading and see if its dropped enough to handle the AV for 5 a gallon :), thanks buzzard

when you run that million dollar a gallon oxygenated :):):):), you have to run huge jets since you are getting gas and air mix. one of my old racer buddies and a total jetski guru, said you can run up to 270psi with AV gas.i run 220 and thats high enough.

So my compression was set at 215, the last time I checked it both holes blew 200 so maybe the AV would work for me. I'll have to check it out, do I get it at the local airport? thanks again for the info Buzzard.

My home away from home.
My big issue is that we ride between 4,000' and 6,000' mostly. TL, PFP n stuff. I'm still learning, but I hate burning top ends. So for now, I'm keeping it safe on the fuel mixing.

I just wanted to know which brand 110 was best. And so far I'm liking the sound of the Sunoco, due to it being petroleum based and also being leaded fuel.

I am at 215psi in both holes and I mix CHP 50/50 with 93 octane pump gas and then mix in Amsoil Dominator at 32:1. No detonation and no issues at all so far and this is all done on a brand spankin new Jetworks 900R motor.

Saying things like that out loud makes you look much less intelligent.............
