SXR Super "not so sweet" SXR build

Ok so my first ever ski build and id like for all of the X to experience my headaches:aargh4:. So anyways we will start with an 08 completely unmalested SXR.

My plan is just to make an all around fun rec/freeride ski that anybody can ride and i can eventually barrel roll with off a massive boat wave since this thing is so heavy. So far on the list is some pretty basic weight reduction where i can get it. Remove hood liner mod to shave some weight, try and remove as much glue from the bond line that i can without pulling the motor. Get rid of the stock rail caps, etc. If you guys have any other ideas let me know ill try them out. Now the stuff that will cost money which is everything else. Of course i am going to install some foot holds, new turf, pole limiting rope, pole, chin pad, hood retention system, possibly tubbies but i don't really think i need them on an sxr. Lets see probably going to get a quick steer turn plate, some 0 degree bars if there worth it? Some odi grips with locks, twin bilges with a custom fiberglass mount id like to try and make. As far as the engine goes id like to get a wet pipe, anybody have one for sale? Get a light weight flywheel and maybe a milled head, kinda just want to keep the motor as reliable as i can. i don't know i'm sure there are a ton more id like to do just have to wait and see what the budget will be.

I've already ordered or have a few things:

Freeride Innovations pole limiting rope
Freeride innovations hood strap kit
Freeride Innovations hood strap impact pad
PLD -2 aluminum handle pole
Tom21 footholds with 25mm pad
Black/white turf for side rails, rail caps, and sides of tray
Black turf for bottom of tray
Fiberglass chin pad

Still on the list:

AM hull to save all my frustration.

This will be my first time i have ever done any fiberglass work, turf work, and ski building so every piece of advise you guys can give me i would very much appreciate it.

I am also going to try and make a custom fiberglass front foot hold that will hold my fire extinguisher. Why they put them under the hood i have no idea.

So far i have accomplished installing the new pole and modifiying the stock chin pad to fit, but not sure if i really like the all white pole or the pad. I might run some black turf on the center part of the tubes just to break up the all white. What you guys think?

Just got done pulling off the turf and side rail caps and now trying to figure out how to install turf where the caps where. Its not as smooth and clean as i thought it was going to be so do i glue some foam and shape that before turf or reglass to clean it all up? i don't want to buy the caps from blowsion.

Ok ill post up some pics i have to do it off my phone cause i don't have any on my computer.

Thanks guys
Tom

Sounds like it'll be a fun ski. Very similar the one I have for sale in my Signature. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

I have a set of green Blowsion Caps that I can sell you for real cheap as I'm not going to use them. If you are not interested then just build up the areas with padding and shape smooth then turf over. Be generous with the padding if you can. It makes for a comfy ski.
