93’ super jet 701. Stock motor with a ADA girdled head. Suddenly lost spark while riding last week. After opening up the Ebox and finding some Corrosion on ground wires I determined the stock cdi was bad. Did so by testing coil and cdi on a different ski. Coil worked fine but cdi did not. Ordered a MSD enhancer on amazon. While waiting for part to arrive I removed flywheel and stator. Talked with JSS and they recommended I soak the stator in oil for a few days. Installed MSD enhancer and replaced stator and flywheel. Ski fired right up! Ran great for one day. Took it out today and ran fine for half hour or so then began acting up. Started losing power when ski was vertical or when pulling out of the water hard. Almost seemed like it was sucking water into the intake. After a few seconds of riding fast it would return to normal and be fine. Eventually the motor stopped and didn’t want to turn over. Waited a few seconds and nothing. Few minutes later it turned over and started. But less then half power. Pulled on the beach and began looking. Seemed to be only running one cylinder. Swapped the plugs thinking they were fouled out. Then I lost all spark and motor wouldn’t fire.
Is it possible my ski is burning up cdi’s? How could it run fine the first day then act up the next? Brand new MSD enhancer. What do I do?

Weird that simply replacing plugs caused you to loose all spark. Might want to try another set of plugs or put the old ones back in and see what happens. Maybe loose/intermittent plug wire / boot connection??
Might consider double checking every wire connection in the ebox. Opening the ebox and seeing if any water got in??
Not sure what would be causing the unusual power losses you describe. If it is unusual as you describe and you are loosing spark, sure seems like electronics are the likely cause to be checking.

No spark with old plugs either. Really makes no sense. Really don’t understand why it ran perfect the first day... Then the second everything went to poop. I’m gonna check compression tomorrow. And pull the msd enhancer and test it on my other jet ski. Just to be sure it’s still good. Next step I guess would be sending both the ebox and stator to JSS for refurbishment.
To clarify the carb cover/ filter is a junk K and N one. I’ve heard the stock one are better for preventing water from splashing into the intake. When riding if I ever tip to the left I never lose power. If I tip to the right ( the side with the carb) it would bog down as if I am sucking in water. After running hot for a few seconds it would be fine again. Until tipping back to the right starting the process all over again. That’s always been normal. What changed today was it had that same symptoms when standing the ski upright. That had never been the case before.
